Not long ago, I visited Hwanseongul Cave with my college classmates. Located midway up Mt. Deokhang (1,071m above sea level) in Singi-myeon, Simcheong-si, Gangwon-do, it is a limestone cave. Hwanseongul Cave is a limestone cave formed approximately 530 million years ago. It is a natural cave situated at an altitude of 500 to 600 meters on the rugged Mt. Deokhang and is designated as Natural Monument No. 178. The cave covers an area of ​​6.6 km² and has a total length of 6.2 km, of which 1.6 km is open to the public. Hwanseongul Cave maintains a temperature of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius year-round, offering a warm atmosphere in winter and a cool feeling in summer. The admission fee for Hwanseongul Cave is 4,500 won for adults and 3,000 won for those aged 65 and older. Additionally, a monorail runs for a distance of approximately 700 meters in the middle of the route; the journey takes 7 minutes. Operated by a private company, the round-trip fare for this monorail is 7,000 won, and there are no senior discounts available. Please understand that the video quality is poor overall because the interior of Hwanseon Cave is very dark.
