Chogok Yonggol is nicknamed "Haegeumgang" for its coastal cliffs and rocky outcrops, crashing against the blue waters of the East Sea. The 660-meter Chogok Yonggul Candlestick Rock Trail, featuring a 512-meter deck and a 56-meter suspension bridge, offers a breathtaking view. Due to typhoon damage recovery work, the area is limited to the Candlestick Rock Observatory, but it was still a great opportunity to fully appreciate the spectacular scenery. ▶ Information 236-4 Chogok-gil, Geundeok-myeon, Samcheok-si, Gangwon-do Summer (March-October) 9:00-18:00 (Closes at 17:00) Winter (November-February) 9:00-17:00 (Closes at 16:00) Free admission / Free parking (parking at Chogok Port) Closed every Monday ◎ Deokbongsan Coastal Ecological Trail This trail winds around Deokbongsan Mountain, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and its bizarre rock formations. A wooden bridge built over the sandy beach allows easy access to the Deokbongsan Trail without having to step on the soft sand. The trail is divided into Course B (626m), which circles the outer coast of Deokbongsan Mountain, and Course A (317m), which crosses the summit. There are rest areas and three observatories offering stunning ocean views. This leisure space boasts a variety of recreational and convenient amenities, including walking trails, photo zones, a rose tunnel, an event garden, a fountain, and a grassy plaza. The beautiful scenery and clear waters make it a popular snorkeling spot. Transparent kayaks and snorkeling gear are available for rent at the entrance, and amenities such as showers and parasols are readily available. The breakwater and rocks protect against rough waves, and the shallow waters ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all ages. Daejin Port is a small port that once served as a port. It resembles a natural swimming pool, with a shallow area perfect for children to play in. The water is about 3 meters deep. The surrounding rocks act as a breakwater, keeping the waves low and making it ideal for water play. No admission fee or showers. ◎ New Millennium Coastal Road The ultimate drive along the beautiful Samcheok coast. This road, which connects the entrance to Samcheok Beach to Jeongla Port, has been selected as one of Korea's 100 Most Beautiful Roads.
