On board a Coney Island bound R46 Q train from 96 Street to Coney Island

Seen here is a ride on a Q train, operated by R46, bound for Coney Island via Lower Manhattan. Due to work on the Manhattan Bridge, N and Q trains were rerouted via Lower Manhattan. Q train service was normal express until the crossover at Prince Street lead us to the upper level of Canal Street. This lead to extra service through lower Manhattan until we resumed normal service at Dekalb Avenue. In this video, I managed to catch me an R46 coming into 96 Street as it will be the next train leave for Brooklyn. These R46s are making their way out of MTA property with the majority of R211s coming into service serving the A, B, C, and G train services, the only subway cars left that will be serving out of Coney Island will be the R68/As. The R46s are the only subway cars left from the 70s still running on the N, Q and W lines, still running after 50 years, will soon be a thing of the past. So better get these 75 foot Pullman sets before it’s retired by the end of the year. In the end, it did went back into service as it left out Coney Island and making its way back towards the next stop, which was West 8 Street. Enjoy! Date taken: June 13, 2026
