LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY | I CARRIED 25kg Of CAMERA GEAR For This VIEW | TRUST in YOURSELF

I have just turned 60, and in this episode I found myself reflecting on what landscape photography feels like as you get older. The big camera bag, the slowly changing eyesight, the glasses that now have to come out, and the sheer effort of being a lone vlogger all become part of the story. Some photographers choose to lighten the load as the years go by, and I completely understand why, but for now I am still happy to carry 25kg of camera gear if it means getting out into the landscape and chasing a photograph that matters. This second Algarve shoot takes me to Ponta da Piedade, one of Portugal’s most dramatic coastal photography locations, with sea stacks, stone steps, hidden viewpoints, jade coloured water and towering cliffs. I set out looking for the classic shot at the bottom of the grotto, but before heading down I followed a rough little track along the cliff and found a view that may be my favourite image of the morning. There is also a seven image panorama, a simple reminder about levelling your tripod properly, and a final long exposure that proves you do not always need sunrise colour when the textures, water and sky are doing the work for you. I specialise in large format print focusing on creating fine art images best viewed on a wall. Do you need audio for your multimedia projects?
