Scenic Montgomery KONE Hydraulic Elevators @ Somerset Collection North, Troy, MI

Filmed with Samsung Galaxy S9 on August 1, 2021 These are the elevators in the center court of Somerset Collection North. These are some amazing scenic Montgomery KONEs from the late 1990s. They are partially glass and have glass doors, plus epic motors. They're plenty large enough for the demand, but they should have installed faster lifts in my opinion, because these do get quite busy. Since these lifts are usually very busy, I made a point of getting here early in the day before they got crowded. I noticed a KONE van in the parking garage when I arrived, not thinking much of it until I saw the left lift (featured first in this video) out of service with a KONE technician working on top. The other lift was especially busy as a result, so I was a little frustrated, thinking I wouldn't be able to get a good take. I watched the technician at work for a few minutes until, as luck would have it, he put it back in service. Thinking he was done working, I rushed down to the second floor to take it for a spin, with the idea of being the first to ride it after the work was done. I got through this video and noticed that just after I cut the camera, the lift being worked on had gone back out of service and the tech was getting back on top of the car. I guess I got pretty lucky there... probably the first time in years I got a nonstop ride alone on one of Somerset's glass lifts.
