How are the GLASS Elevators at The Woodlands Mall doing?? - Vtg. 1994 Montgomery Hydraulic Elevators

Checking out the BEST part of the Woodlands Mall: the famous, yet nostalgic glass elevators! This video covers the glass elevators on both the east and west wings of the mall. The East Wing Elevator’s Hydraulic Power Unit is unfortunately still having issues with proper operation going up. Also, the floor indicator is completely burned out. While the West Wing Elevator runs okay, it is unfortunately starting to have door diseases on the Lower Level. The floor indicator works on this one however. This comes to the conclusion that these elevators are starting to show their age. They are currently 30 years old, yet fixing to turn 31 years old shortly as of January 2025. This pretty much makes the elevators vintage at this point. These elevators sustain a lot of heavy use which basically means they will need to be maintained a little more than they were first new to the mall. Hopefully these issues can be addressed without the need for a modernization. I believe these things can run strong for 10 more years before needing to be modernized. If they do modernize it though, it’s fine. A power unit replacement from MEI (Preferably a Dry Power Unit) could be one potential solution for these elevators though, along with a new door operator, new floor indicator, and new exterior chimes as well. Other than that, everything else including the fixtures can be left alone since they’re ADA Compliant. Installed in 1994. ©️2025 anthony020501
