Stealth Camping on a Beach Under the Stars

What started as a normal camping trip quickly turned into one of my favorite adventures yet. I arrived at my campground expecting a quiet night, but the campground was packed and there was a huge group camping right next to my site. Originally, I only booked the campsite so I could film content for a brand — I never actually planned on sleeping there because I usually avoid crowded campgrounds. But to my surprise, the group camping next to me turned out to be members of Black People Who Hike and Outdoor Table CHI. Seeing so many Black people outside enjoying nature honestly made me incredibly happy, and I had an amazing time connecting with everyone. After setting up camp, I grabbed my stealth camping bag, hopped on my electric scooter, and headed toward the beach looking for a hidden place to spend the night. Along the way I explored a small creek hidden off the beach, watched an unbelievable sunset while eating a Mountain House meal, and eventually found the perfect secluded spot to set up my bivy tent after dark. The night sky was absolutely unreal. I fell asleep under the stars and woke up at 4AM to experience one of the most beautiful sunrises I’ve ever seen. I even pulled my sleeping pad and quilt out onto the beach just to fully enjoy the moment. After packing up, I rode my scooter back to camp where my camp neighbors invited me to breakfast. Great food, great conversations, and great people. Later my cousins arrived to help film content for the brand before we all packed up and headed home.
