Galatea's Slow Progress Delays Britannia On Shap

A memorable day on Shap, as 70000 Britannia follows 45699 Galatea up Shap, just 5 minutes apart. The jubilee made slow progress on the climb, causing Britannia to be signal checked. 45699 was working a Cumbrian Coast Express itinerary (in the days before steam only worked the coast leg), and 70000 Britannia was on the Cumbrian Fells Express, which returned south over the Settle & Carlisle railway. Many thanks to my father, Peter Ainsworth, for the Scout Green shots (his Flickr site is here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/peterai....
