Mythos 012 - 50 Jahre Dampfabschied

On May 31, 1975, the German Federal Railway's service with a truly legendary locomotive series came to an end. The 012 was retired. May 31, 2025, marked the 50th anniversary of this farewell. Reason enough to dedicate a small memorial to this series. The well-known railway filmmakers Ton Pruissen and Joachim Schmidt opened their archives for me so that we can once again delve into a time when steam was still thriving on the Emsland line from Rheine to Norddeich Mole. The leading role is played by the 01 1104 from Faszination Dampf, which brought the Westfalendampf special train to Norddeich Mole on May 31. Many of its sister locomotives are just as active in retrospective footage, such as 01 1066; 01 1075; 01 1055; 01 1082; and many more! Eyewitnesses told me about the day of the farewell and what it was like for them when the 012 disappeared. Many thanks to all the other filmmakers who helped me with scenes in this video!
