When Conversion Becomes a Costume
A growing number of young male converts are being drawn to “hardcore” Orthodoxy, but is this really about the Gospel, or is it about identity, wounded masculinity, online machismo, and anti-Catholic resentment? In this video, I respond to the OrthoBro phenomenon: the attraction to ROCOR, Moscow, severity, beards, powerlifting, anti-Western rhetoric, and the sudden urge to anathematize Rome after being Orthodox for fifteen minutes. This is not an attack on true Orthodoxy, which I deeply respect. It is a warning about turning the holy tradition of the Church into an online identity weapon. Catholics, Orthodox Christians, Eastern Catholics, converts, and seekers need to ask a serious question: are we being healed by the Gospel, or radicalized by our wounds?
