The updated NR-1 (Brazilian Regulatory Standard 1) comes into effect this Tuesday and expands companies' responsibility regarding risks related to workers' mental health. The new rule requires employers to identify, assess, and control psychosocial factors, such as harassment, extreme stress, and burnout syndrome, within the Risk Management Program. The Ministry of Labor and Employment informed that there will be the possibility of inspections and the application of fines. After pressure from companies and employers' unions, the measure had been postponed for a year, but Minister Luiz Marinho stated that he does not intend to grant a further postponement.
