What do we do in our free time? Do we pay attention to what we enjoy doing? María José Castejón offers a glimpse into how a hobby can become the fuel for your life. A professional percussionist with the group CAYIAO, she is Venezuelan, born in Ciudad Bolívar, raised in Puerto La Cruz, and brought up in Zaraza, Guárico State. She holds a degree in Geophysical Engineering from the Simón Bolívar University (USB). She began her training with the Orquesta Típica de Lechería and later joined the Anzoátegui branch of the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela (El Sistema). Although she started with the cuatro, she soon discovered her calling lay in percussion, especially the maracas, an instrument she considers to have "incredible potential and complexity." He has participated on stages with artists such as Ensamble Gurrufío, Miguel Siso, Caramelos de Cianuro, Gaelica, Elisa Vegas and the GMA Orchestra, Alfredo Naranjo, Mcklopedia, Jhoa Beat, Liana Malva, among others.
