SANTA TERESA TRAM ( BONDE ) - Rio de Janeiro - is historic tram line in Rio de Janeiro. It connects the city centre with neighbourhood Santa Teresa in the hills Southwest of downtown. Tram line is oppened 1877, it is one of the oldest street railway lines in the world . It has been electrically powered since 1896. The main line is 6 kilometres long, from Carioca to Dois Irmaos. Service frequency, every 15 minutes. The journey in both directions takes about 1,5 hours and the price of the return ticket is 4 euros. 6 people were killed and least 50 injured when a tram derailed in late august 2011, all service was suspended after the accident, until 2015.
