Just under eleven years before Chernobyl exploded and contaminated swathes of Eastern Europe, we turn our attention far north to the very first reactor of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. On November 30th, 1975, this reactor would suffer an accident that came frighteningly close to causing its complete destruction.
