The chest remains still during Kapalabhati: before beginning, the chest is extended, which remains locked in the inhalation position. It is the diaphragm and abdominal muscles that create the expiratory movement. This pranayama increases the flow of oxygen to the brain; therefore, in addition to bringing relaxation, it can help you increase your concentration and even improve your memory by clarifying, through internal cleansing, anything that was unclear. Kapalabhati acts on the respiratory system and abdominal muscles, which results in improved muscle tone and lung capacity, intensifies the burning of toxins, thus improving immunity and aiding weight loss.
