Rare look behind the scenes at Port Talbot's Pickle Line transformation
Preparations are underway for one of the lesser-seen—but critically important—steps in our £1.25 billion green steelmaking transformation. While public focus is often on our future Electric Arc Furnace, behind the scenes, another key development is taking shape: the construction of a brand-new Pickle Line, essential for future steel processing. We spoke with Lead Project Engineer Phil Bridges, who’s leading the complex task of clearing the former Batch Annealing Bay—unused since the 1990's—to make way for the new multi-million-pound facility. Commissioning for the new Pickle Line is scheduled for December 2027, playing a vital role in our commitment to reducing CO₂ emissions from Port Talbot by 90%. 🔔 Don’t forget to like, share, subscribe, and turn notifications on for more exclusive updates on our path to low-emission steelmaking!
