I Explore the Secret World of Scunthorpe Steel Works Internal Railway

Scunthorpe Steel Works internal railway brake van tour takes a look around the steel works from the safety of a brake van. This is the only way that the site can be visited by members of the public. We see locomotives from the steel works and the mainline.The tour lasted about 4 hours plus we had a chance to strech our legs at Appleby station, which is the headquaters for the Appleby & Frodingham Railway Presevation Society https://afrps.co.uk We visit the rail mill and the sidings where rail is loaded onto wagons for shipment to customers, including Network Rail. We also visit the locomotive and wagon workshops. Molten metal torpedo trains are seen up close as we park up for a few minutes to let it past. The driver experience train using 144017 was also seen several times.
