Devolver la identidad a los desaparecidos | Carlos Vullo | TEDxCordoba

Hundreds of people lose their identity every day due to wars, dictatorships, disappearances, and natural disasters, among other causes. Carlos tells us how he and other members of the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team use genetics to identify people and skeletal remains through DNA comparisons. In this way, they are able to restore names and reunite families with their loved ones. Carlos became interested in genetics early on and earned his PhD in Chemical Sciences working on the genetics of autoimmune diseases. In 2003, he joined the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF), applying genetics to the identification of missing persons in Argentina. He currently directs the team's Forensic Genetics Laboratory. He has participated in the identification of victims of crimes against humanity and human rights violations in more than 20 countries around the world. Her work as a geneticist with the prestigious Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team has helped restore the identities of missing persons in Córdoba and dozens of other locations around the world.
