Una semilla contra la discriminación | Alex Appella | TEDxCordoba
“How much does discrimination hurt?” is one of the many questions Alex asks himself every day. In his talk, he tells the story of his family members, who emigrated from Hungary before and after World War II to save their lives. The resilience of his great-uncle János and Alex's creativity transformed that story into a book and a traveling library, a project sustained through crowdfunding that travels to schools in different countries, planting seeds. Alex Appella was born in the United States, in a very small town in eastern Oregon, and arrived in Argentina in 1994 to research his family history. He began binding his writings and collages while living on a sailboat in Alaska, before taking his handmade editions to the streets and plazas of Latin America. What began as a temporary solution for a nomadic life is now his way of life. Her artist's books are regularly exhibited in the United States and are held in institutions such as the Getty Museum (Los Angeles), the New York Public Library, and libraries and universities throughout North America. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
