When Emma was twelve years old, she was sexually abused for the first time by an acquaintance. It was a horrific and incredibly traumatic experience that she repressed for years. Not only that, but she blamed herself for what happened, as that was the easiest answer for her to understand why it could happen. She couldn't accept that someone could do something so horrible. For a long time, Emma repressed the rape – until the resulting depression became too severe, and she sought treatment at a clinic. Her time there helped her greatly, and by the age of 15, she was feeling so well that she was even firmly convinced that her perpetrator was sorry and that she should talk to him about it to get an apology... But when the two wanted to meet to talk, the former acquaintance abused Emma again. Emma tried everything to escape the situation – but there was no chance. Emma immediately called the helpline and shortly after went to the police to report the crime. Shortly afterward, Emma learned that not only had she been raped by him, but that he had already been a perpetrator – and convicted – several times. In the video, Emma tells Frank how she is doing today and how she is dealing with her experiences.
