I picked up the keys to the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S whilst my V85 TT was in for its first service at A&D Motorcycles in Denbigh. 24 hours, 150 miles through Cheshire and North Wales — enough time to form a real opinion. No structured route, plenty of time - Just me, the bike, and a mix of A and B roads to find out what the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S and Moto Guzzi's modern1042cc liquid cooled engine is actually like. I cover everything — ergonomics and comfort for a taller rider, performance and handling, the Öhlins electronic suspension setup, rider technology, and whether the £15,500 price tag is justified. I also put it up against bikes I've had the chance to ride - the BMW R1300RS, Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, and Yamaha Tracer 9 - to see where the V100 actually sits in the sports tourer class (if it even belongs there at all!) But the question I kept coming back to is harder to answer than a spec sheet allows: is this just a sports tourer with some Italian flair, or is it something genuinely different?
