Arrival of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Ms. Elke Büdenbender of the Federal Republic of Germany Maharlika, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City June 15, 2026 President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany, accompanied by Ms. Elke Büdenbender, arrived at the Maharlika in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City for a State Visit to the Philippines beginning June 15, 2026. The visit marks a significant milestone in the long-standing diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Germany, spanning more than seven (7) decades. Germany remains the Philippines’ largest trading and investment partner among European Union (EU) Member States. The last visit by a German Head of State was in 1963, when President Heinrich Lübke made a visit. Upon arrival, the German President was welcomed by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez.
