Puerto Rican Jibarito Sandwich | Plantain Sandwich!
Puerto Rican chef Juan "Peter" Figueroa created the Jibarito sandwich in 1996 at his restaurant Borinquen, located in Chicago's historic Puerto Rican neighborhood, Humboldt Park. It’s a delicious twist on a traditional sandwich! Ingredients: Jibarito • 1.5 lbs thin cut beef • 2 tbsp olive oil • 2 tsp white vinegar (or lime juice) • 2 tbsp sofrito • 2 tbsp tomato sauce • 1 tsp Adobo (all purpose seasoning) • 1 bay leaf • 1/4 tsp cumin • 1/3 packet Sazón • 1/2 tsp garlic powder • bell peppers and onions • 3-4 green Plantains • toppings of choice “Mayuketchup” • 1/2 cup mayonaise • 2 tbsp ketchup • 1tsp garlic powder • dried cilantro to taste 📝 These ingredients and instructions serve as a general guide.
