Sendai Public Lecture ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓ https://kikutani.hp.peraichi.com/sapporo ====== In Siberia, the king of the ecosystem is the Siberian wolf. Apparently, its greatest natural enemy is another Siberian wolf. A significant number of Siberian wolves are killed by their own kind in territorial disputes every year. So, what is the strongest animal, not just in Siberia but on Earth? It is, without a doubt, Homo sapiens (humans). For the past hundreds of thousands of years, they have consistently reigned supreme at the top of their ecosystems. So, for humans, who pride themselves on being the most virile creatures on earth, what is the most terrifying animal? And that is, once again, "humans." Many of the bones of Jomon people discovered in Japan show damage that suggests they were killed with bows, arrows, or spears, suggesting that inter-tribal conflicts were likely frequent. Even in today's world, governed by the rule of law, humans remain by far the most common animal killer of humans, excluding malaria-carrying mosquitoes. After all, more than tigers, bears, crocodiles, or snakes, humans are more likely to be killed by other humans. So, which humans should we be wary of? Reckless young people, gangsters, or illegal foreigners? According to data released by the National Police Agency in 2017, a staggering 55% of all murders (including attempted murders) uncovered in 2016, or more than half, were "murders between family members." Furthermore, even among murders between relatives, cases in which children kill their biological parents are by far the most common, with 139 of 858 murders involving biological parents. Since 88 of the murders were by people the parents did not know, the risk of being killed by one's own child is much higher than being killed by a stranger. Who would imagine when their child is born that they would one day kill themselves? Children grow up relying on their parents for support and guidance, and few would ever imagine that the day would come when they would kill their own parent. However, the fact is that such tragic acts of betrayal happen every day all over the world. In Buddhism, killing one's parent is called one of the "Five Cardinal Sins," and is said to be a sin that will send one to the hell of incessant suffering, known as "Mukangya." You may think that there's no way someone would commit such a horrific crime, but the data shows that it's no laughing matter. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Click here for the official "Understanding Buddhism" LINE. ----------------------------------------------------------------- ・Video and column updates ・Mini-sections explaining Buddhist terminology in simple terms ・LINE friend-only events, etc. ▼Click here for the official "Understanding Buddhism" LINE. https://lin.ee/GbzwYBX ----------------------------------------------------------------- Click here for the 20-part free email course. ----------------------------------------------------------------- https://peraichi.com/landing_pages/vi... ↑The free email course reveals the answer to the "meaning of life" taught in Buddhism.
