How God Builds Your Capacity

One of the greatest misunderstandings in Christianity is believing that God increases our gifts before He increases our character. Throughout Scripture, God consistently proves the opposite. He enlarges the inner man before He enlarges the outer assignment. He develops the vessel before He pours in greater responsibility. Capacity is not built through promotion—it is built through transformation. This is why Paul writes in Galatians 5:22-23 that the fruit of the Spirit is evidence of God's work within us. The gifts of the Spirit demonstrate God's power through us, but the fruit of the Spirit reveals Christ formed in us. Gifts may attract people, but fruit sustains what gifts produce. Jesus Himself demonstrated this principle. Although He was the Son of God, Luke 2:52 says He "increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." If the perfect Son of God embraced a process of development, then none of us are exempt from God's process of increasing our capacity. God never wastes a season. Every delay, every disappointment, every difficult relationship, and every hidden season is shaping one or more dimensions of spiritual fruit.
