Exploring Italica Seville | Walking Tour of Spain's First Roman City

Join us on a fascinating historic walking tour through the spellbinding ancient Roman city of Itálica Spain. Located in the Andalusia region, Itálica sits in the town of Santiponce Seville and is commonly thought to be Spain's first Roman city. Itálica was also the birthplace of two of Rome's more well know emperors, Trajan and Adriano. Emperor Adriano (Hadrian) is, amongst other things, most famous as being the emperor who built Hadrian's Wall in the north of the UK which subsequently separated England and Scotland at the time. Itálica was founded in 206 BC as a place for wounded troops to recover and also for war veterans to live. Being just 7km from Seville makes Itálica a perfect destination for a day trip. Our walking tour begins in the Itálica amphitheatre as we explore the well preserved ruins oozing with an atmosphere which takes us back in time to over 2,200 years ago and must be experienced to be believed. Leaving the Roman amphitheatre behind, we end our tour by making our way into the city to see the restored ruins of thermal baths, aqueducts, temples and houses with beautiful mosaic floors. We marvel at what life would have been like all those years ago, walking on the same streets as ancient gladiators and Roman soldiers used to do. Come along with us as we explore the stunning ancient city of Itálica. Learn some interesting facts about the places we visit around the city throughout this video.
