Introduction to neutron scattering experiments with triple axis spectrometers
ANBUG-ANSTO lecture series on Inelastic Neutron Scattering, presented by Dr Shinichiro Yano from ACNS. Dr Yano will introduce the principle of neutron scattering techniques and triple-axis spectrometers in this lecture. Triple-axis spectrometers have been one of the most versatile neutron scattering instruments for many areas of science. Triple-axis spectrometers allow you to investigate physical phenomena in energy and momentum space. They are also one of the oldest neutron scattering instruments. Even though neutron scattering techniques and instruments have advanced greatly so far, they are still very active today. In this lecture, Dr Yano will introduce a triple-axis spectrometer by introducing neutron scattering cross-sections. The audience can understand how to triple-axis spectrometers work. Dr Yano will also present the components, capabilities, sample environments, and scientific experiments in this lecture. Hopefully, the audience can find an opportunity to use triple-axis spectrometers with their science in the future.
