Patient Education Series: Living Liver Donation & Transplantation | GiveLifeUHN
This is the second of a quarterly patient education series presented in collaboration with the Canadian Liver Foundation and the Ajmera Transplant Centre at UHN. The series address your questions about liver transplantation. Session 1 focuses on the clinical aspects of liver disease. Session 2 addresses living liver donation and transplantation. Session 3 dives into the pre-transplant journey. Session 4 focuses living well post-transplant. A special session covering all aspects of liver transplantation and living donation is available en francais. ABOUT THE SPEAKERS Dr. Nazia Selzner is a transplant hepatologist and medical director of the live donor liver transplantation program at Toronto General Hospital, the largest living donor program in North America. She encourages all patients listed for liver transplantation to have an informed discussion with their family and friends about the option of living donor transplantation. Chantal Wiggins and Elena West are nurses and transplant coordinators in the Ajmera Transplant Centre Living Donor Liver Program. They assess and support donors through the living liver donation process. Jefferson Hall is a living liver transplant recipient and Tim Marshall is a living donor. Tim and Jefferson shared their living liver donation and transplantation story and answering your questions.
