US Marines vs History Broke My Brain

Today I’m reacting to a video called What If US Marines Fought History’s Greatest Empires, and this was such a fun but intense military thought experiment. The video asks what would happen if a modern 2026 Marine Expeditionary Unit was dropped into different points in history with limited fuel, ammo, no GPS, and no backup. From Persia and Rome to the Mongols, the British Empire, Imperial Japan, and the Soviet Union, the matchups get more and more serious. What shocked me most was how massive the technology gap is when modern Marines are compared to ancient armies. Machine guns, Viper attack helicopters, F-35B jets, HIMARS, Javelins, thermal optics, and modern infantry weapons completely change what war even looks like. Against ancient empires like Persia or Rome, it almost feels impossible for those armies to understand what is happening. But once the video gets closer to modern history, especially Imperial Japan and the Soviet Union, things become much more dangerous. As someone from Finland who didn’t really grow up learning much about the US military, reacting to these videos has honestly made me respect the Marines so much. I’ve heard so many intense stories on this channel, and every time I watch something about Marines, their discipline, training, and mindset stands out. This video was fictional, but it still showed how much tactics, supplies, terrain, and technology matter in military history. What do you think?
