Cape Wrath to Land's End, Part1
After many encounters with backpackers walking end-to-end across Great Britain, and always feeling inspired, I felt that now was a good time to have a go at this myself. On Saturday the 13th of May 2023, with some training and over-zealous planning in the bank and a fully loaded backpack, I took a citylink bus to Inverness, and from there the friendly "Durness Bus" took me to Sango Sands Campsite, arriving 6:30pm. I set the tent up and rested, ready for an early start on Sunday, when I'd walk down to board the first ferry at Keoldale over to the Cape Wrath peninsula where a minibus I'd booked myself a seat on should be waiting... The M.O.D. had announced firing times either side of the one day I'd picked to start the walk, and the weather was stable enough to allow the ferry and bus to run, so the nerves were gradually settling when I finally took my first steps on the journey from Cape Wrath lighthouse down towards Sandwood Bay - and all going well, eventually Land's End in about 11 weeks time.
