Bolting 6ton Lead Keel to our Boat! Fastening Handmade Wooden cleats and Caulking a Wooden deck Ep96
Hi everyone, We are pretty happy to share episode 96 with you all here! It's one with multiple subjects again, let us know if you enjoy the video's this way where we go through multiple different jobs or if you prefer the video's that only focus on one subject. The first part of this episode we work on bolting the lead ballast keel up to the boat with some shiny new bolts. Matt talks about the choices of different metals and we have a look at the custom made bolts, nuts and washers before covering them in glue and seeing them disappear into the keel. The second part of the episode is dedicated to installing the cleats that Famke made over a year ago, She made all six and installed the starboard three last year, Matt continues the work and installs the other three on Portside, quite the job considering he cannot get very close to said cleat as the deck caulking right there in front of the cleat is still hardening out... The last part of the episode is all about caulking the brand new deck, a whole lot of seaming to do in one go. When it's all in we look back on the process and decide it's not too bad! Iefke gets to work on removing the excess caulking with the very intimate help of Obie as a way to finish this episode off again. We would really like to thank you all so much for your support, in all the ways you are able to. We really appreciate everyone following along for the ride, also if your contribution is not monetary but in the form of feedback, enthusiasm or encouragement. We value it all equally. Thank you!
