It requires meticulous care to read the water, but also bold thinking to change your plan when things aren't going your way. In this video, I head out to a beautiful river for the first time. After a great start with a nice-sized rainbow trout on a #12 Stimulator, the river completely went dead. I worked my way upstream, but the pressure was too high. That's when I made the bold call to U-turn and head back to a spot near the hot springs—and the river rewarded me with another awesome hit on a #16 Peacock Stonefly!
