JASP Lesson 21 Common Factor Analysis versus Principal Components Analysis
This lesson explains the difference between common exploratory factor analysis and principal components analysis. The lesson focuses on how exploratory factor analysis functions to reproduce the correlation matrix as a means of separating common cause constructs from error. In contrast, principle components analysis seeks to maximize the variance explained by all the variables in the analyses via a reduced number of variables.
