JASP Lesson 20 Orthogonal versus Oblique rotations Factor Analysis

This lesson covers the differences between orthogonal (uncorrelated) and oblique (correlated) axis rotations when conducting exploratory factor analysis--specifically highlighting differences between varimax rotations and promax, oblimin, and geomin rotations. About midway through the video, I demonstrate that factor analysis starts with an unrotated solution. Then I take a mock-up of that unrotated solution and actively rotate the axes. I discuss how the various solutions one can imagine "eye-balling" the rotations give birth to mathematical formulations that account for the large variety of rotation methods that exist.
