On June 29, 2017, 23-year-old Molly McLaren was murdered in a gym car park in Chatham, Kent, stabbed more than 75 times by her ex-boyfriend Joshua Stimson minutes after she had texted her mother to say she was coming home. This is not just the story of what Joshua Stimson did. It is the story of what three separate police forces knew, what they recorded, and what they chose not to connect. Alexandra Dale had reported Stimson to Staffordshire Police three times in 2013. Leah Hubbard had her own encounter with him in 2016. Molly McLaren walked into North Kent Police station in June 2017 with printed evidence and her mother beside her. None of those reports were ever linked.
