PARANÁ EP 7: We explored the SIXTH largest canyon in the WORLD in TIBAGI 🥾 Welcome to Conexão Aventrilheiros! 🌿 In episode 7 of our trip through Paraná, we explored one of the most impressive natural landscapes in Brazil. We visited the incredible Guartelá State Park in Tibagi, home to the famous Guartelá Canyon, the sixth largest canyon in the world in terms of length and one of the most surreal places in Paraná. And honestly… the internet DOES NOT prepare you to see this place live. Between gigantic walls, cinematic trails, natural pools sculpted by the force of the water, and the famous river pools, we understood why this destination has become one of the most impressive places in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná. 🌿 WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN GUARTELÁ STATE PARK ✨ Breathtaking viewpoints of the Iapó River Canyon ✨ The famous natural pools of the river ✨ Trails through the Campos Gerais (coastal plains) ✨ Rock paintings thousands of years old The canyon is approximately 32 km long and impresses with the immensity of its rock formations and the force of the Iapó River, which has shaped the landscape over thousands of years. 🥾 WHAT THE TRAILS ARE LIKE: The basic trail is self-guided, approximately 5,000 m long (round trip), easy difficulty level, with access to the pools of the Pedregulho Stream (swimming allowed), the viewpoint of the Iapó River canyon, and the Ponte de Pedra waterfall. There is also a guided rock painting trail, 6,000 meters long (round trip), of medium difficulty, with access to the pools of the Pedregulho Stream (swimming allowed), the rock paintings (dating back approximately 7,000 years), the sandstone rock portal, and several natural viewpoints overlooking the canyon. The estimated time for the route is 4 hours. Access to the trail is only permitted with a guide, and must be scheduled in advance with local tourism agencies. 📍 HOW TO GET THERE: 🚗 Enter the name of the Guartelá State Park into your GPS and you will arrive correctly. Departing from Curitiba via BR-376, it's a 3-hour drive of approximately 200km. From Ponta Grossa, it's a 1 hour and 10 minute drive following PR-151 to Castro. From Castro, follow PR-340 to the roundabout at Km 247. Then, travel 1.5 km along the unpaved road to Guartelá State Park. 🕒 Opening Hours: 👉 Wednesday to Monday, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
