Visiting Hemet's Maze Stone - A Southern California Mystery

The Hemet Maze Stone has been determined to be at least 500 years old but it is unknown who created it and why they did so. The artwork doesn't match other known Native American art or petroglyphs from the area leading to some pretty wild speculation ranging from ancient Chinese sailors who ended up in California to aliens of course. The Hemet Maze Stone was rediscovered in 1914 by a rancher and it along with the surrounding land was donated to the county of Riverside in the 1950s to become a park. The Maze Stone is located just a short drive off California State Route 74. There is about a 1/4 mile hike to the stone from the parking area, 95% of the way is paved.
