Day 1 Morning Session of Massive Waves at the Wedge - June 9, 2026

The most anticipated swell of 2026 did not disappoint. The beauty of these swells is that they travel all the way across the pacific from New Zealand, so there's eyes on this thing for quite a while. First it hits Teahupo'o...if it produces waves there the next stop is Hawaii. If we see waves on the south facing beaches in Hawaii then we turn to Puerto Escondido for the final test, and when this swell hit Mexico it hit with a vengeance! With the last test being completed, not we sit at wait for the swell to hit the wedge. We started to see the first signed of the swell the evening of June 8th and then the crowds showed up at the Wedge before first light the morning of June 9th. Here is what it was like to watch the theater from the beach on the afternoon of the first day of the swell.
