Quantifying Human Tremor for Parkinson's Disease | Zaidi Mohd Ripin | TEDxUSMNibongTebal

Vibration occurs in our daily life, even in human body, One of the significant example that vibrations occurs in human body is Parkinson's disease, a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement. Professor Zaidi Mohd Ripin delivered an idea to assess the Parkinson's disease by quantifying the vibration in human body. Professor Zaidi holds a degree in Marine Technology from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Masters in Tribology in Machine Design and PhD in Vibration Analysis from the University of Leeds, UK. He has served Universiti Sains Malaysia for more than 20 years and has produced 22 Masters and 9 PhD graduates. He has secured research grant of more than RM 2 million and has collaborated with many industries in research related to vibration, noise and stress analysis with multi nationals such as AMD, Intel, Motorola, National Instruments, Benchmark, Matsushita and many more. He has also actively participated in helping small and medium industries to solve problems related to their products and operation. His area of research has always been about vibration, noise and those associated with it which include friction excited vibration and unstable systems. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
