In this 4K walk, I show you the entire Ulm Minster in Germany (German: Ulmer Münster): from the first glimpse of the tower in the pedestrian zone to the square—complete with the hourly bell chime—the walk around the exterior, the impressive interior, and finally the climb up 768 steps to the observation deck, offering a spectacular panoramic view of Ulm and the Swabian Alb. The foundation stone of the Minster was laid in 1377, and it was completed in 1890. This timeline includes a construction hiatus of about 300 years (between 1543 and 1844) due to internal political tensions and a lack of funds—much like the construction of Cologne Cathedral. It held the record for the world's tallest church tower until October 30, 2025, when it was surpassed by the Christ Tower of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. The church became Protestant in 1530—a rarity among Gothic churches. The city of Ulm is located in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, on the border with Bavaria in southern Germany. The city has a population of around 130,000.
