Limp Mode to PERFECT Cold Start?! (Wiring + Thermostat + Water Pressure Valve)

This might be the biggest breakthrough yet… We’re continuing the repair on my 60HP Johnson EFI outboard, replacing the thermostat and water pressure valve—but along the way, I uncovered some seriously sketchy wiring issues with the Cylinder Temp sensor (CT sensor) and Camshaft Position sensor (CMP sensor). And yeah… it was BAD. After correcting the wiring and finishing up the thermostat and water pressure valve install, the results honestly surprised me. This was the BEST cold start this motor has had since I’ve owned it. Now the big question is—did this finally fix our limp mode issue for good? We’ll still need to water test it to be sure, but based on how it fired up… I’m feeling very optimistic. 🔥 In this video: 0:00 Intro 0:42 Wiring Issue Found 2:31 Water Pressure Valve Install 6:09 Wiring Issues Explained Cylinder Temp Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor 9:19 Fixing Outboard Wiring Issues 11:02 Installing Electric Parts Holder for ECU and wiring on outboard 13:57 New thermostat and thermostat housing install 16:27 Cold Start Test Replacing thermostat on a 60HP Johnson EFI Water pressure valve install Diagnosing CT sensor & CMP sensor wiring issues Fixing incorrect wiring First cold start after repairs (huge improvement) If you’ve dealt with weird sensor wiring or limp mode issues, drop a comment—I’d love to hear what you think. 👍 Like, subscribe, and follow along as we get this outboard 100% dialed in and back on the water.
