Commemorations of the 200th anniversary of the Amphictyonic Congress begin - The Amphictyonic Congress of Panama was a meeting of Latin American nations convened by the Liberator Simón Bolívar and held in Panama City in June 1826. Its main objective was to consolidate unity among the newly independent republics of Latin America, promoting cooperation, mutual defense, peace, and multilateral dialogue among the states. President José Raúl Mulino welcomed his counterparts and then held a meeting with them.
