IFIAD Research Webinar - Nutriton

Webinar presents two research programmes focused on nutrition. 1. IGNITE (Implementing DiGital Health SolutioNs for Food and NutrITion SEcurity in Underdeveloped Countries) research program, funded by Research Ireland and Irish Aid. This interdisciplinary initiative is focused on strengthening digital health systems for nutrition and food security in Uganda through interoperability, governance, and capacity-building approaches. 2. Hanaano Programme is a regional, cross-border, community-driven initiative integrating nutrition, livelihoods, WASH, natural resource management, social and behaviour change, gender equality and conflict sensitivity approaches to prevent child wasting implemented by Concern Worldwide, IGAD and local NGOs and funded by Irish Aid Speakers: Prof. Audrey Tierney is Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Limerick and lead of the Food, Diet and Nutrition Research Group within the Health Research Institute. Her research focuses on implementation science, digital health, nutrition systems strengthening, and lifestyle medicine, with a particular interest in translating evidence into sustainable real-world practice and policy. She is Principal Investigator of the IGNITE project. Audrey works closely with academic, government, health system, and community partners nationally and internationally to co-design scalable solutions that support improved nutrition outcomes and more connected health systems. Dr. Achiba Gargule Ph.D is an Associate Researcher with the Feinstein International Center, Tufts University, based in Nairobi, Kenya. He is the Research Coordinator for the Hanaano Research (Preventing Child Wasting in the Mandera Triangle) and is also part of the study’s qualitative research team. Achiba’s research focuses on the transformation of African pastoral systems, with particular interest in how pastoralists adapt to changing ecological, political and institutional conditions affecting their lives and livelihoods.
