Fourth of July Fire Damages House in Lindenhurst, IL 07/04/26
On Saturday, July 4, 2026 (Independence Day), at around 6:01 PM, the Lake Villa Fire Protection District, Lindenhurst Police Department, and multiple automatic aid fire departments responded to reports of a structure fire in the area of Millennium Park, 201 Country Place, in Lindenhurst, Illinois. While crews were rushing to the area, the LakeComm Dispatch Center updated the address of the call to 308 Cross Creek Lane, but that address is incorrect, and the actual address of the fire was 380 Cross Creek Lane, which is just east of Millennium Park off Sand Lake Road. Firefighters arrived and found smoke and fire coming from the two-story single-family residence. Firefighters deployed hose lines into the home and were seen focusing heavily on the east side of the house. Field employees from ComEd and Nicor Gas responded to tend to power and natural gas utilities. The fire was extinguished at around 6:30 PM. Firefighters remained on scene conducting overhaul and salvage operations. A man passing by in his car on Sand Lake Road told Woo-Sung Shim that he was one of the people who reported the fire. Lindenhurst police officers, with the assistance of a Lake County Forest Preserve ranger police officer who was in the area at the time, shut down a portion of Cross Creek Lane while crews worked the scene. It's unclear if anyone was injured or evaluated by firefighter/medics. It's also unclear if or how many residents were home at the time of the fire and if they safely evacuated. Much of the damage appeared to be in the attic and on the east side of the home. The home appears uninhabitable, and it's unknown how many residents were displaced and if disaster relief is being provided to them. Fire investigators from the Lake Villa and Fox Lake fire protection districts responded to the scene. As of the time of this video upload, it's unclear if the fire is still under investigation and what caused it. Lake & McHenry County Scanner first reached out to officials at the Lake Villa Fire Protection District on the same evening of the fire and numerous times since then to gather more information on the incident. As of the time of this video upload, the Lake Villa Fire Protection District is not releasing any information on the fire. An administrative assistant said over the phone on Friday, July 10, 2026, that neither Fire Chief Doug Slazes nor Deputy Fire Chief Adam Becker is releasing information at this time. Lake & McHenry County Scanner has made a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the Lake Villa Fire Protection District.
