Steam Train 1225 Pere Marquette

Pere Marquette 1225 is a steam locomotive built in 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio. The locomotive has a 2-8-4 "Berkshire" wheel arrangement and was intended for both passenger and freight service on the Pere Marquette Railroad in Michigan. 1225 was also the basis for the train depicted in the book "The Polar Express". Today, the locomotive is kept in Owosso, Michigan and maintained by the Steam Railroading Institute. In this video, we will see the 1225 on s special winter photography charter out of Owosso, put on by Lerro Productions. The locomotive pulls a matched set of passenger cars painted in the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad scheme.
