In the morning, having made my way to the ticket office at the stuffy Naples train station, I bought a train ticket almost to the very edge of the Neapolitan arc. The carriage was cramped, dirty and instantly packed to capacity. For four and a half euros, I had to endure this for over an hour to get to a completely different world - Sorrento, the city that inspired Maxim Gorky, where Vesuvius rises majestically. Here, near the rocks illuminated by the sun, narrow stairs descend to a quiet harbor, where elderly Italians rest on benches near boats, and seagulls circle above them. Every morning a new fairy tale was born here, and in the evening the wine lulled the heart until the next rosy morning.
