The Side 2 Side | Part Twenty One | Coombe Hill to Letchworth | Wild Camp in the Pegsdon Hills

Part twenty one of my project to walk from Land's End to Ness Point - the furthest western point of England to the furthest eastern point. Back in the saddle! In May this year, I went back down to Somerset to finish what I started in 2024 - my Side 2 Side challenge! This video took me from Coombe Hill in Buckinghamshire to Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire. After my camp on Coombe Hill, I fancied a bed tonight and found cheap accommodation in Dunstable, but to reach it I faced a 20 mile day in the heat. I faced several setbacks, including a detour to Wendover thanks to HS2 works, and a traffic jam. The final part of the Ridgeway is stunning, with sweeping views, but I was trying to outrun a thunderstorm, so I didn't go to the top of Ivanhoe Beacon. After skirting Whipsnade Zoo and climbing the Dunstable Downs, I finally reached my accommodation. The next day brought more urban walking, as I had to cross the cities of Dunstable and Luton, but found a great campsite with sweeping views in the Pegsdon Hills. Although I slept well I felt completely drained the next day, but luckily only had a shorter, easier day to Letchworth Garden City, where I booked a room through Airbnb.
