The Side 2 Side | Part Twenty Three | Marmer's Wood to Scole | Icknield Way - Finished!!

Part twenty three of my project to walk from Land's End to Ness Point - the furthest western point of England to the furthest eastern point. Back in the saddle! In May this year, I went back down to Somerset to finish what I started in 2024 - my Side 2 Side challenge! This video took me from Marmer's Wood in Cambridgeshire to Scole on the Norfolk/ Suffolk border. I packed away early and left my wild camp in the woods, walking to the village of Stetchworth for a coffee break. I walked past several stud farms and gallops, finding an open pub in Gazeley. Today was very hard as I felt exhausted, so instead of trying to camp on Cavenham Heath, I booked a room in an inn in Icklingham. I felt much better the following day and followed the Icknield Way into the forest, after a brief coffee stop at West Stow Country Park. Today's walk followed broad tracks through the forest to the end of the Icknield Way at Knettishall Heath, where I pitched my tent on a small patch of woodland. Now following the Angles Way, I set off the following day, through the fenlands, to reach the busy town of Diss and my campsite at the neighbouring village of Scole. I had booked two nights here, as I could catch the bus back to Scole from Harlestone, my destination for tomorrow. As well as feeling very tired, I had an infected thumb, which was becoming increasingly swollen and painful, and I wasn't sure what to do about it. Map image - https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/gove...
