No Dig Succession Planting: Multiple Crops in One Small Bed, Easy and Fast

In this video I show how easy and quick it is to follow on one crop with another using the no dig method. Succession planting is straightforward when your soil is in good health, and you don’t disturb it. This small 8x4ft bed (2m x 1.2m) has already produced a lot of food this spring, and there’s more to come. I focus here on spinach, showing when to harvest the last leaves, how to clear the plants while leaving roots in the soil, and options for what to plant next. You’ll see French beans going in, plus a look at salad onions affected by allium leaf miner, fennel coming close to harvest, and space opening up for possibly some red cabbage. All of this without digging or worrying about rotation—just planting according to what you would like to eat. 📍 Filmed: 30th May 2025 📍 Location: Somerset, UK – Zone 8, temperate oceanic climate 🎥 Filmed by: Carly Dutton-Edwards 🎵 Music: Rory Dunwoodie ⏱️ Video Chapters 00:00 – Introduction 00:19 – Spinach, starting to flower, final harvest 01:58 – Saving spinach seeds 02:28 – Clearing spinach plants by twisting 03:19 – Follow-on planting options, and spacing 04:11 – Dibbing holes for dwarf French beans 05:24 – Transplanting into dibbed holes, option for sowing 06:04 – Allium leaf miner on salad onions 06:37 – Fennel, when to harvest 06:56 – Lettuce and peas, still cropping 07:08 – Option of planting red cabbage with cover 07:15 – No rotation, and outro You can join this channel by paying a monthly fee, to support our work with helping gardeners grow better, and to receive monthly videos made only for members:    / @charlesdowding1nodig   #NoDig #SuccessionPlanting #GrowYourOwn #CharlesDowding #NoDigGarden #Spinach #GardenTips #SmallSpaceGardening
