The BEST VIEW in NORWAY - Hiking TROLLTUNGA
We are definitely saving the best to last on our Norway Motorhome Tour. It’s hard to think of a better view than that of the Troll’s Tongue - Trolltunga. You need to work for this one though with the hike ranging from 7 to 12 hours depending on where you start the hike from. More on that later in the description! 00:00 Intro 00:45 Travelling to Trolltunga 01:54 Motorhome Parking at P1 02:54 EBiking from P1 to P3 05:08 20km Trolltunga Hike 16:36 Overnight Stay 16:44 Next Time The closest campsite to Trolltunga (Trolltunga Camping in Odda) is expensive at £58 per night - (2025) and has mixed reviews. The one thing it does have going for it though is the Trolltunga Shuttle comes directly to the site. We choose to stay 50 minutes away and drive to the P1 Trolltunga Carpark. (It is not possible to go further up to the P2 carpark in a motorhome) The hike from P1 is 23.6 miles which is around 15 hours, no one hikes from here. We have our ebikes so we were able to ride all the way to the true start of the hike at P3. It is a very steep 800m ascent so you really do need an e-bike! If we didn’t have ebikes we probably would have stayed at Camping Trolltuna and used the Shuttle from there. If the campsite was full we’d have stayed in P1 for the day and booked the return shuttle to P3. After the hike we stayed at carpark Lothepus in Odda, we just turned up and paid at the ticket machine. It did get full there later in the evening so don’t leave it too late. There are signes at P1 saying no overnight stays. Once the logistics are sorted it’s time to enjoy the long hike to Trolltunga. It’s an enjoyable hike and totally worth the jaw dropping view when you reach the end. We both gasped when we saw it. Truly amazing! A word on safety, it’s a long exposed hike so you need to go prepared with plenty of water, food and appropriate clothing. Outside of the summer months a guide is required. The route for us was easy to follow with good visibility but you would not want to get lost up there in mist. Enjoy! #norwayhiking #trolltunga #motorhome
